Be thy self   Know thy self.    Es Te Ipsum Nosce Te Ipsum.

This Latin phrase was engraved on a ring given to me by my best girlfriend for Christmas.  I read it everyday, wear it everyday.  And yet somehow, I forget.  I get busy and forget to listen to my own words, forget to slow down and see the signs, to pay attention to the food I digest, where I spend my energy.  I forget.

I get busy and unsure.  So, I read 'self help' books, listen to talk radio, TV, parenting magazines, looking for instructions on how to do this life right.  And yet, I continue to forget.

Be still and know.  Be yourself, know yourself.

So it comes down to this:  We NEVER forget, it's not a memory.  We may have forgotten HOW.   We feel we are the sum of our historical pages.  And...we forget.  We forget the very first page of our story.  Each day, we have a blank page, truly a fresh beginning full of opportunity.  UH, makes you want to run out and scream "DO OVER!  I HAVE A DO OVER".  Yes, yes, you do!

.... and yet, we forget.  We forget the power within us.  Call it God, Buddah, Great Spirit, Krishna, energy,  a knowing... we all have it.  It's undeniable.  We must get quiet for us to remember.  It is in the silence that we know.   Know our strengths, our weaknesses, our true calling, and our oneness.

Take a moment.  To close your eyes, and listen.  Listen to the sounds all around you.  Pay attention to the noise behind the noise, the electricity running through the walls, floors, ceiling.  Maybe a clock ticking, people talking, cars moving by.  Listen.  Take 5 deeps breaths.  Next, breathe into the sensations on your skin.   Your clothes touching each part of your body.  Now focus on the electicity running through your feet, legs, spine, arms, neck, face and in every strand of hair on your head.   Follow your breath in through both nostrils, and follow it.  Feel your heartbeat, feel the rythem of your body.  Sitting still, there is still so much movement.    And now, be still and know.  Be yourself, know yourself.  Stay for as long as you'd like, you're in good company.

much peace

I'd like to welcome into this world, the brand-spanking new, Lookout Mountain Massage & Healing Center.  She's beautiful and perfect.  Has all the right parts, and sun pours in her from the heavens above!

Welcome to my new baby.

I feel like that.  I feel the same sensations I felt with pregnancy and the birth of my children.  Wait... not all the sensations.  But the anticipation: 'what will they look like? will my body AND mind be able to handle them?  what will they be like?  who will their friends be?  HOW will we afford them?  Oh god, HOW WILL WE AFFORD THEM???'  Yup, some of the same questions are running through my head as I open my first office for health.  Lookout Mountain Massage & Healing, Golden, Colorado.

The gestation period has been 10 years.  phew.  The growing pains, the feeling of being humbled. Something else I feel just as strong as I felt with my children:  faithful.  A faith that this is the right thing, the right timing and all is in the plan.   I hear the quiet voice of strength and knowing, this is good.

I'm grateful that I was chosen for this position.  I was given this beautiful gift.  I'm honored and humbled to look into the heart of my newest child and promise:  I will do my best.  I will trip, for sure, but the love I have for the gift I was given keeps me going and growing.

So, here we go... take my hand and hold on tight... we're in for a spectaular journey!

much peace
